The yin to their yang. By representing the “sane” this rally then engenders the conversation of the false equivalencies and of course draws natural comparisons between the audience. It’s important to note that the crowd that showed up to “take it down a notch” was overwhelmingly liberal. One can see this as a missed opportunity, but a rally should be a statement and a conversation starter, not solely a statement to stand on it’s own.

One thing I liked about the Rally to Restore Sanity was that, in drawing crowds significantly larger than those at Glenn Beck’s rally, it de-mystified Beck and put the lie to the notion that he represents some sort of unparalleled groundwell in American politics.
