The latest fight over the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau involves a credit card hotline. Customers could call this hotline to register a complaint, and the agency would compile the information it receives in a database which it would use when and if it decided to act on a complaint. However, that is the kind of data is very easily misused, which is why banks and card issuers want some restraints placed on how it can be used. This would help keep all payday loan data private.
