One slightly interesting retrospective question is what about Hillary — would she have done any better?  I’d like to see her campaign donation profile.  Of course, Bill was a major enabler of the the whole mechanism by bringing the Goldman-Sachs crowd right into the cabinet room with Rubin, so it’s likely Hillary would have been about the same as Obama. Had she been elected, she just might have run a smarter strategy, not getting herself like Obama into an undefendable corner.

But this is all pretty much deck chairs on the Titanic.
