I can remember writing our “law givers” when this mess happened. I’m no great financial genius, but I suggested that Congress not give the money to the Banks, but use the money to buy down all the homeowners mortgages to 2 or 3% interest. That way the money went to the people that paid the taxes. The banks would be repaid the money they were owed. People wouldn’t loose their homes. People would still be working because the economy would be roaring. Even people that didn’t have a mortgage would be better off because the economy would be doing so well. It’s a win for everyone except the money grubbing crooks that thought up the whole mess. But what did Congress do? They gave the money to the crooks that made the mess happen in the first place. That’s so they could give it back to the politicians as “campaign contributions”. They are all liars and cheats and don’t give a damn about anyone but themselves. Anyone that doesn’t understand this deserves to be cheated because they are to stupid to walk upright.

From Wikipedia:
“He had been a board member of Philip Morris between 1964 until his court appointment in 1971 and had acted as a contact point for the tobacco industry with the Virginia Commonwealth University. Through his law firm, Hunton Williams Gay Powell & Gibson (later just Hunton & Williams) he represented the Tobacco Instituteand the various tobacco companies in numerous law cases.”
