Certainly not the people of Chicago. In regards again to the parking privatization, the estimated revenue from these meters, paid by the people of Chicago, is roughly $9.58 billion. That is 8 times what the city sold it for. That is $9.58 billion dollars going into investors pockets instead of back to the city for ‘neighborhood redevelopment’ like it says in Bennett’s article. The alderman we voted in all followed the “leader” aka Daly, and pushed this horrible deal through. It is their fault in the end – they could have rejected it, but they were scared of balancing the budget. So, they went for the quick fix.
