Comments on: Missouri’s hypocritical war on poor people https://occasionalplanet.org/2013/07/12/missouris-hypocritical-war-on-poor-people/ Progressive Voices Speaking Out Wed, 13 Apr 2016 15:52:41 +0000 hourly 1 By: Daniel Dwb Anderson https://occasionalplanet.org/2013/07/12/missouris-hypocritical-war-on-poor-people/#comment-2838 Thu, 18 Jul 2013 05:13:00 +0000 http://www.occasionalplanet.org/?p=24991#comment-2838 Well written, but a few things to note. Federal nullification is legal, as long as it doesn’t fall under the interstate commerce clause, or go directly against federal law. Last I checked there is no federal law that says that federal officers can violate a state law. Since the bill does not say those laws or null and void, but rather the enforcement is, its a tidy, legal, and effective loophole. Loopholes are often used by federal government to override our state laws, so I say fair game.

I hope you realize a strong state government is an essential buffer between our local governments and the federal government. We should be flexing our 10th amendment muscle as much as possible. That, or we could just continue to lay down to the fed until there is no state government at all. It seems foolish to me that a nation as diverse as ours should be totally governed by one central power.

I fully agree that our politicians are hypocrites, as that seems to be the aim of your article. (Besides taking jabs at republicans, but left or right seems to be the mindset in this country) I do not however, justify this misdoings of some people by the misdoings of others. Instead of complaining about a law that stops some people from wasting our money, we should be discussing a law that stops the politicians from doing the same. I’d like to see a law that no longer allows our politicians to accept these gifts(bribery).
