I am new to the site and only came looking for a writer of whose piece I enjoyed and agreed with. While I have yet to find her, I simply couldn’t resist this title. One needn’t read much past the first line to get the gist of things. “Hillary’s Nightmare: A Democratic Party That Realizes Its Soul Lies with Elizabeth Warren.” Noam Scheiber is absolutely correct. It reminded me of a piece I read in a UK publication lamenting the strange (by common sense) appointment of Paul Flowers to a position he was hardly qualified for, but such is politics. (“A Labour-supporting Methodist minister, Paul Flowers was deemed by definition to be the right man to chair the Co-op Bank, even if he knew nothing about banking.”) Geez Louise, who does that remind me of? Actually many, many politicians, (esp. one in particular but I won’t get off the focus of Warren just now) Republicans included but of course I mainly focus on the “ruling class” because they are causing the greatest percentage of the damage. I digress slightly but to return to the issue at hand, Warren of course was caught in a big lie. The author goes on to say, “The party (Labour) may take the moral high ground, but lying and cheating are deep in its DNA.” And so it is with the modern Democrat (Socialist) Party in the U.S.A. today, and I would add “stealing” to the list of amenities. Again, she was elected, and mostly because she was a “D” in Massachusetts. To the low-information folks, this means free stuff from the government. To the “gentry liberals”, the end always justifies the means and regardless of their ideology having miles and miles of failures, and candidates often possessing less than virtuous behavior, there is for some reason a pleasantry to some and an emotion for others of a utopia that cannot be and leaders who are wholly inappropriate. In a sad sort of way, it is a “Jim Jones” kind of passion, with “progressive” “sheeples” all to eager to partake of the “Kool-Aid”, which may very well take us all down. Warren over Hillary?
