Thu, 08 Jan 2015 22:48:00 +0000http://www.occasionalplanet.org/?p=30924#comment-6597all addictions eventually lead to their own demise, by either killing the addicted, or morphing them into something different that can no longer be functional. our addiction to violence is obvious. however, like other addictions, it is not so to those who are buried in it at the time. we love having the “good guy” beat up the “bad guy”, it fulfills our sense of justice and righteousness. unfortunately it is that exact sense of justice and righteousness that is morphing, to one increasingly self serving and judgmental of others. America will go the way of all other powers, killing itself with the very thing that helped make it great. justice has turned into an excuse to blame others for our failings and a way to avoid checking ourselves as our problem.
