You correctly point out many of the flaws of the US that deservedly and justly need addressing. However, you, IMHO, miss the larger point. This is the inevitable end of all “superpowers”. It has happened before and will again. The issue is not governments and their policies. It goes much deeper than that. Politics will not EVER solve the issues we face as humans because the base issue is us…..we, the people. This is true for not just the US but every government and culture and society. Changing from one dysfunctional culture for leadership to another isn’t the answer, and can never be the answer. I have seen enough and read enough history to know that the cycles we go thru from bad to bad…with small periods of relative peace spaced in between….are the result of the underlying human condition. We are all selfish, self centered people to some degree or another and given the recurring circumstance of life, it will prevail over all our good intentions. The heart of man is evil and no one can understand it. That is an issue of surrender. Unless we, everyone one of us, understands our brokenness as humans, we will continue to live in anger, selfishness and in judgement of others. There are your root causes. There is only one way to change this, and I will leave it to each person to think on that and find it within themselves.
