In reply to Stacy Mergenthal. Thanks for reading it and responding! I too hope that Bernie changes his positions on foreign policy. I think he will be pressured by his supporters to do that. No matter what happens in Nevada, SC or Super Tuesday, he is in it for the long haul. He's going to the convention. His goal is to bring the American people back into the political process, and if possible win the White House. But Bernie will win whether he wins the nomination or not.

Thank you for writing and sharing this. It’s insulting and condescending to be told that support of Bernie Sanders is naive, sexist, and/or unrealistic. What I want to hear and what I welcome is genuine, fact-based criticism of Bernie’s real record as a lawmaker and/or his policies. I have my own criticisms, ones that you eloquently and articulately outlined here, particularly on matters of foreign policy. But much of the criticism from the rightwing and from HRC supporters is pure speculation or misguided and misinformed defeatism. It’s good to see informed writers counter these attacks with factual information.

Another thing I appreciate about Bernie: he may have been delivering the same message for over 30 years, but he is open to reviewing new information and new ideas. His opinions evolve. I think with enough pressure, his foreign policy positions can be changed to reflect the will of the American people.
