Comments on: MO legislature creates a new poverty crime https://occasionalplanet.org/2016/09/20/mo-legislature-creates-new-poverty-crime/ Progressive Voices Speaking Out Wed, 22 Feb 2017 20:14:17 +0000 hourly 1 By: Stacy Mergenthal https://occasionalplanet.org/2016/09/20/mo-legislature-creates-new-poverty-crime/#comment-7132 Sun, 25 Sep 2016 05:17:00 +0000 http://www.occasionalplanet.org/?p=34737#comment-7132 I sympathize with doctors and their staff whose time is valuable and in short supply but in my own experience, I have never been seen at my scheduled appointment time. Not once, at any doctor’s office for any reason. A doctor is not the only person in this situation whose time is valuable, especially when that person is low-income and taking time off of work to see the doctor during their short business hours. It is known that clinics/offices “overbook” appointments. If someone doesn’t show up, someone else gets seen quicker. Not sure why there needs to be a charge for missing an appointment. Is there a hidden cost involved somewhere? Punishing the poor for being poor seems to be a trend with Republicans.
