the commentary about the governmental behaviour tho, is sadly correct….we’ve attempted to send some of the refugees to Cambodia; only 4 took the offer initially, two bolted back home. the other two cost 55 million(!!) http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/blow-to-australias-55-million-cambodia-deal-as-two-more-refugees-reportedly-leave-20160308-gnda8q.html
another two were flown over at the end of last year, but ultimately only one refugee remains for the 50 + million spent

The ones on Nauru and Manaus islands btw are costing around a half million per refugee per year.

thats another big reason for Turnbull to push Trump to honour the agreement; the longer they languish the more it costs us, and they are not cheap to keep in ‘offshore processing’. quite frankly its surprising the government hasnt crumbled and allowed a once off intake from the group on the islands now, but this conservative* govt is particularly hard headed and hearted.
*note that Liberal party in Australia are conservative, the left parties are Labor and Greens. ive wondered since the phone call blowup if Trump thought that Liberal meant left, and acted accordingly?
