Always the same litany of unsupported smears to demonize Spencer. The SPLC is a hard left pressure group who long ago jettisoned the liberal causes they were set up to further. Breivik later admitted that he used the counterjihad movement as a feint while really aiming to further neo-Nazi aims. The UK government, absolutely clueless about Islam, banned him after lobbying by another hard left group with a cuddly sounding name, Hope not Hate.

Mary, I do not doubt your sincerity but you are being had. Spencer tells the truth about Islam. I would bet that you have never considered it necessary to investigate Islamic sources but you should. You might get the same shock that I, a lifelong liberal, got. In reply to trumangrad2015. Actually funds for each event must be approved! Truman has to know what the money specifically goes to and the organization has to be able to justify it.

Just as any other organization is able to use funds allotted to them for what they please, the College Republicans are allowed to do the same. Allowing someone to speak their views is foundational to this country’s freedom. Taking that away would be unconstitutional. As a recent Truman graduate, I am happy to see that the university is upholding the freedom of speech amendment set forth by this country’s founders. If you don’t like it, don’t go. Additionally, trying to insinuate that this speaker will be linked to further suicides is just not true. I’d also like to point out that the people commenting on the forum you referenced likely have no relation to the campus itself and even if they do, they don’t intend to do any of the things you imply. I agree that it is insensitive to make jokes about such things, but people in this generation need to learn not to take everything to heart and to have thicker skin. Not everyone has to agree. You have your views, but others have views as well. Recognize that others have views separate from your own and learn how to deal with that. Not everyone in a college institution sides with the left and they shouldn’t be expected to. It is a life lesson that you will need for years to come. Don’t get your panties in a bundle over someone coming to speak. It doesn’t mean that his views are shared by the school, the College Republicans, or anyone else for that matter. Again, a petition that prevents someone from exercising their freedom of speech is unconstitutional.
