Arthur has been saying it for years, as both a voter and a candidate: publicly fund campaigns. Limit campaigns to 10 weeks leading up to the election, ensure every candidate gets equal access to media, and make it possible for voters to easily learn about the candidates and where they stand on the issues. If we “even the playing field”, then maybe candidates like Kelli Dunaway have a chance to truly represent their constituency, be public servants in a democracy. Elections have to be about more than just winning or the rest of us lose.
