Same to you. Hope there will be more. — a

]]>Cynthia, I guess that like any two people, we see things differently. That’s okay with me; I appreciate having the different perspective. It is quite possible that what I think I see is wrong, or “fake.” As more events unfold, I’ll try to consider your perspective as well. I guess that we agree on a lot of components of a progressive agenda, but in terms of what is going on day-to-day, we have different views. But as I said, I’m happy to try to look at another perspective.
]]>Thanks for your reply, Arthur. I try to keep up with the news but I really am in the dark about “nefarious relationships between more than a dozen Trump associates and Russia.” Do you mean the Russian government or just Russian individuals? And what was reported that suggests that “nefarious” would be the correct way to describe the relationships? It was widely reported that Flynn reached out to the Russian ambassador at Trump’s request during the preparation for the transition of power — but even the Washington Post has characterized that action as “normal” for members of incoming administrations. If information about “nefarious” relationships is coming to the media via leaks from the FBI, I think we have good reason to question it after all that has come out about Mueller’s team–especially the text messages –in one of them an agent actually talks about the need to stop Trump from becoming president for the good of the country–and how he, the agent, is in a good position to help with that. If there was a Deep State effort to make sure Trump wasn’t elected, and then now if there is a similar effort to bring down his presidency, then I fear for us all. That means that there are those in high places in our government who think Americans don’t have the right to select their own president. If the Deep State gets away with this kind of coup with Trump, you know for certain they will do it to whatever anti-war, pro-government funded healthcare Progressive Democrat we might somehow one day manage to get into office!!! As much as we dislike Trump’s policies, I think we liberals need to above all stand strong for the rule of law to prevail, rather than hope to have him taken down by highly partisan operatives abusing their power.
]]>Cynthia, let me pick up the rational strand and take it to the end of your comment. You emphasize the need to focus on the tax bill, healthcare, etc. I agree completely. And I think that the rational answers to these issues is to block the tax bill and fully fund health care. That’s what some (hardly all) Democrats want to do. I think that we need to work on focusing Democrats and any others and addressing the real issues, not the diversions. As for Mueller, etc., I think that his investigation has to continue. Regardless of what Hillary might have done, the nefarious relationships between more than a dozen Trump associates and Russia does not seem to be in the self-interest of either country. The investigation may lead to the removal of Trump which is one step towards giving more Americans reason to support progressive Democrats. At least, that’s what I’m hoping.
