CNN poll, released on Dec. 23, 2010<\/a>, offers some encouraging news–and perhaps a word of caution– for President Obama.]<\/em><\/p>\nTwo nights before Christmas, surveying the land,<\/p>\n
A poll put good news in the President’s hand.<\/p>\n
Fifty six of a hundred folks made this confession:<\/p>\n
“Obama did well in this year’s lame-duck session.”<\/p>\n
The Republicans’ rating was just forty-two.<\/p>\n
Oh, the damage that Senate obstruction can do!<\/p>\n
Even Congress’ Democrats, damaged by voters,<\/p>\n
Got forty-six, trumping GOP gloaters.<\/p>\n
But it didn’t stop there, for on further inspection,<\/p>\n
The surveyed said they like Obama’s direction.<\/p>\n
Fifty-five say, “He’s moving our country correctly,”<\/p>\n
With the GOP going the wrong way directly.<\/p>\n
And out of 100, fifty-nine said,<\/p>\n
“In reaching for compromise, Obama’s ahead.”<\/p>\n
While just twenty-eight, who cannot be faking,<\/p>\n
Saw Republicans doing the giving and taking.<\/p>\n
“So, who is the source of the blockading passion,”<\/p>\n
The surveyors asked, in surveyor fashion.<\/p>\n
Here, Republicans won with a margin quite great:<\/p>\n
46 to 28.<\/p>\n
The lesson we learn from this poll is enlightening,<\/p>\n
There’s a bit of good news, but the future is frightening.<\/p>\n
Though some think the GOP’s good for the U.S.,<\/p>\n
We’ll have to be careful, or else they will screw us.<\/p>\n
